Fellow Kiwanians, my name is Hope Markes and I am seeking your vote in support of my candidacy for our next Kiwanis International Trustee.
I have served my community for more than 30 years in a variety of challenging leadership roles. For the past 21 years I have been an active member in the Kiwanis Club of Hopewell, Jamaica. Though my experiences with Kiwanis have been as gratifying as they have been vast, there is a special place in my heart for our Sponsored Leadership Programs (SLPs).
My role as Governor for the year 2013–14 was a fulfilling year, allowing me to have great reach within this noble organization and to impact the lives of the children of the world. This impact, along with the lifelong friendships that I’ve built with you, my fellow Kiwanians, has fueled my passion for the continuity of excellence in leadership and service to our beloved organization.
The business of Kiwanis requires high ethical standards, diligent management and a big heart for young people. The expertise that I’ve gleaned from operating my business — a successful property management company, Hope Markes Villas (which deals with the operation of luxury resort homes located in the tourist mecca of Jamaica) — coupled with my unwavering commitment to Kiwanis, qualifies me to fulfill the duties of an International Trustee: managing the business, property, and funds of Kiwanis International.
I look forward to your support in ensuring that Canada and the Caribbean will be ably represented on the Kiwanis International Board for the period 2021 — 2024. This would be a significant milestone that honors the true breadth and depth of this diverse global organization.
Most of all please stay safe and keep well especially during this time of the Pandemic.
